Lunchtime Express Quartet

A great way to spend your lunch break!
Like all Pilates classes, our Lunchtime Express classes will make you look taller and feel more relaxed, building strength without adding bulk. Lunchtime Express classes systematically incorporate the essentials exercises in Pilates but in a condensed format. Exercises will flow from one into the next giving you length, strength, and balance that will recharge you for the second half of the day.
Our Lunchtime Express Classes are designed for students of various fitness levels that have an understanding of basic principles in Pilates and can set-up their own equipment. Participants must have taken at least five quartet classes and/or worked privately with an instructor at Blue Sparrow Pilates.

Lunchtime Express classes are 45-minute classes.

Easy-Does-It Quartet

Our Easy-Does-It Quartet class begins where you are, no matter what condition your body is in. It is done slowly, working at your own ability level. Through gentle Pilates exercises you will release mental and physical tension, enabling you to become more flexible, stronger, healthier, and happier. This class will focus on the fundamental principals of good posture and alignment, building strength, flexibility, posture, breathing, and balance.
The class will be modified to meet the needs of the individual participants. Open to all ages and no previous Pilates experience is necessary.

Those who can benefit include people with:
• Injuries, joint replacements or other conditions who have been discharged from therapy and would like to continue exercising
• Osteoporosis
• Decreased joint mobility
• Arthritis
• Decreased strength and endurance
• Back pain
• Poor balance

Back Care Pilates Quartet

Our 6-week Back Care class is a Pilates based program designed to strengthen and stabilize the spine and pelvis. There will be a focus on self-awareness, in particular, learning awareness of neutral alignment of the spine and strengthening the deep postural muscles that support this alignment. Creating more support and balance in spine will ease back pain and tension. Improving alignment in the spine will also reduce additional wear and tear that is a result of postural asymmetries from uneven stresses on the discs and joints. Through fluid and supported movements, Pilates improves strength, flexibility, and suppleness of the muscles, which help prevent unnecessary torque on the vertebral column.
Exercises will be modified and personalized depending on the injury and individual needs of each participant. Students will learn exercises that they can do at home to help manage their back injury or pain. The class will work in a progression, each class building on the previous lessons.

Prenatal Yoga Series

Prenatal Yoga classes offer a safe community environment where pregnant women can enjoy movement and breath within their changing bodies. Modified yoga postures can aid in relieving common pregnancy issues such as: lower back discomfort, nausea, digestion, tension in hips and shoulders, swelling, sciatica, heartburn, varicose veins, constipation etc. Movement, breath, and strengthening of the pelvic floor and uterus muscles, and visualization promote positive wellbeing in women during pregnancy, as well as in labor and birth.
