Blue Sparrow Pilates currently offering the following
STOTT PILATES® Courses

The STOTT PILATES® Intensive Certification Program is designed for those with solid anatomy training, familiarity with Pilates and at least three years experience teaching fitness or movement. Each course has been carefully developed to prepare you to teach STOTT PILATES®’ contemporary approach to the original Pilates repertoire effectively with confidence.

The STOTT PILATES® Advanced Repertoire is designed for those students interested in learning the most challenging mat and equipment-based exercises. You learn the essence, muscular and sequence of each advanced level exercise in order to design challenging programs for the most highly trained client or athlete.

Intensive Mat-Plus (IMP) Course

IMP provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating group and personal training programs. This course teaches you to design and teach the Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) Matwork repertoire, integrating light accessories to add variety and meet the specific needs of your clients. In addition to the general course objectives, you will learn:
 
• Workout composition for personal and group training
• Essential, Intermediate, Power workouts
• Flex-Band, Fitness Circle and Arc Barrel workouts
• Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
• Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
• How to incorporate resistance equipment to support and intensify exercises
• Theory and practice of postural analysis
• Exercise layering related to effective program design
• 63 exercises plus multiple modifications
 
Prerequisites
Working knowledge of functional anatomy
Minimum 30 hours Pilates classes/workouts

Duration
40 hours instruction and supervised teaching
Minimum 10 hours observation
Minimum 30 hours physical review
Minimum 15 hours practice teaching
Conducted over 4 weekends

Intensive Reformer (IR) Course

This course teaches how to design and instruct Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) Reformer workouts in personal or group training settings for a range of clients. In addition to the general course objectives, you will learn:
• Effective use of the reformer to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination
• How to develop programs for personal and group classes
• Essential, Intermediate, Power workouts
• Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
• Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
• Theory and practice of postural analysis
• Exercise layering related to effective program design
• 122 exercises plus multiple modifications

50 hours instruction and supervised teaching

Advanced Matwork (AM) Course

This one-day course progresses to more advanced material, providing further options and challenges on the mat for highly conditioned clients. Exercises require a high degree of strength, balance and coordination. Also taught:
• Muscular initiation and sequencing of Advanced-level exercises
• Multiple variations for variety and intensity
• 13 exercises

IMP or CMR or GM + XMP

Duration
6 hours instruction in one day

Advanced Reformer (AR) Course

Learn to use the various reformer components and accessories to intensify reformer repertoire and provide a stimulating workout for athletes, dancers, and highly conditioned clients. Exercises in the Advanced repertoire require greater strength, stability and flexibility. Also taught:
• Muscular initiation and sequencing of Advanced-level exercises
• Multiple variations for variety and intensity
• 70 exercises

18 hours instruction over three days
