There’s no way to get properly trained and certified as a Pilates Instructor in a single weekend. If you’re already a fitness professional, and just want to add a couple basic Pilates exercises to a routine, then perhaps a weekend course will do. However, if you’re driven to help people understand the benefits of Pilates and how it improves everyday life for everyone, from high level athletes to the elderly, and if you want to help people rehabilitate from injury or be able to teach clients about the biomechanics of movement and the benefits of Pilates — then you need to invest in comprehensive training.
Blue Sparrow Pilates Education teacher training program has been designed for flexible scheduling, and is modular, so you can do the full program, or take only the courses you’re interested in.

This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, as well as those who are unable to devote the time required in our Comprehensive Program due to work and/or scheduling issues. Conducted over 2 weeks or 3 weekends. Building on your industry knowledge it teaches you to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Matwork repertoire, for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Matwork programs.

Building on your knowledge, this course teaches you to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Reformer repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs. 139 exercises on the Reformer. (IR may be taken prior to IMP).

This 6 hour course progresses the Matwork to more advanced material, providing further options and challenges on the mat for highly conditioned clients. Exercises require strength, balance and coordination.

Learn to use the various Reformer components and accessories to intensify reformer repertoire and provide a stimulating workout for athletes, dancers, and highly conditioned clients. This 18 hour Advanced course teaches exercises in the repertoire that require greater strength, stability and flexibility.

The 7 hour, one-day Total Barre Foundation Course provides the groundwork for Instructors to produce safe, effective and varied barre programs that address the needs and goals of every client. Participants are introduced to the Total Barre Principles – six movement awareness fundamentals that provide the structure and biomechanical basis for each exercise. We’re curating workshops specifically to help you teach clients with small props during Covid-19 shelter-in-place.
Equipment Note: Regular length foam roller will work for the majority of the exercises.
Dynamic exercises can help develop more physical control. Flowing sequences require more endurance from the working muscles and fluid conditioning helps develop deeper connections throughout the body. In this workshop created by the programming team at Merrithew™, learn flowing exercise sequences using a softer and shorter Foam Roller that will aid in hydrating and mobilizing fascia while increasing joint range of motion and mental focus. Transitions between movements require strength and stability as well as coordination and concentration, fostering a sense of heightened awareness and self-perception.

Mobilizing the joints, from the spine to the appendages, is necessary to maintain a supple resilient body. However, flexibility and range of motion alone are not enough. In order to have a fully functional physique, creating stability in all movements is equally as important. Created by the programming team at Merrithew, this workout incorporates the simple Sliding Mobility Disks in Matwork-based sequences that move and challenge the musculature of the whole body. The three-dimensional patterns include floor work for the arms, legs and core, and progress to a standing series that targets upright balance and control. Can using only bodyweight can create an effective workout for any level client? Absolutely! Explore a workout that takes you through a series of standing exercises designed to strengthen and tone from the ground up. No additional props or external resistance are needed in this creative full-body training session that targets muscular strength and endurance, balance and control. Exercise variations are included to increase or decrease challenge and intensity as well as discussions of cueing and motivating techniques.
